Animal footprint

Author: Eli Munkebye

This activity promotes the interpretation of observations and creativity. It builds on the knowledge of ecology, then preferably about food chains. The activity does not have only one solution, but promotes instead various solutions. The various proposals can be a good starting point for students to argue for their point of view.

Aim

The aim is that students should interpret observations and argue for their point of view.

Pedagogical issues

The teacher has a particularly supportive role in this activity, stimulating the students to think for themselves, to formulate their own questions, and to search for answers to their questions. The teacher promotes students’ out loud thinking and reasoning, gives students examples if they get stuck, asks critical questions, all with the intention of taking students’ thinking to a higher level.
