You need maths in life
We all need mathematics in our lives, in particular the basic mathematics learnt in primary school. This workbook provides you with numerous opportunities for inquiry that are either taken directly from the world of children or which give children closer looks into areas that they find interesting.

Pedagogical issues
The tasks in the workbook are closely connected to children’s everyday lives and present open questions. Often, more than one way of solving them is possible. Some tasks are missing number values which the children must make guesses about or find by asking questions. When working on such tasks, primary school children demonstrate a great deal of effort and creativity. A key factor here is that pupils be given sufficient time and freedom to work on the tasks, for example in group work phases or pupil to pupil discussions.
Characteristics
All of the tasks are exactly like the way mathematics often appears in normal, daily life! They are so-called modeling tasks.
Potential for PD
The tasks in the workbook can be used in connection with the PD modules "Tackling unstructured problems” and “Students working collaboratively” as alternatives that are oriented on primary education.
